Now Accepting Board Nominations

We are announcing the opening of the recruitment process for the Community Foundation's Board of Directors. Consider nominating yourself or someone you know.

What To Expect

The Community Foundation of South Puget Sound relies on community volunteers to guide and strengthen our work. We believe people from across Lewis, Mason, and Thurston counties should have a voice in shaping how community grant funding is directed. This is the power of a community foundation: local donors, local dollars, and local people working together to create a thriving region.

Nominations are now open for the Community Foundation's Board of Directors. You can nominate yourself or someone else by Monday, October 13, 2025.

We're working to build a board that represents the people and communities of Lewis, Mason, and Thurston counties.

As part of this effort, we are especially interested in welcoming individuals who:

  • Live and/or work in Lewis County or Mason County
  • Bring perspectives from communities historically underrepresented on our Board, including but not limited to race, ethnicity, religion, socioeconomic status, and age
  • Are active military members, veterans, or military spouses
  • Bring experience in sectors such as law, fundraising, education, or health
  • Have firsthand experience with systems like housing, healthcare, schools, or the justice system

We believe that a range of backgrounds and perspectives helps us better understand our communities and make a stronger impact.

To learn more about the roles, responsibilities, and expectations of board members, please click here. On average, board members commit approximately 5 - 6 hours per month.

Below are quotes from two Board of Directors members who joined in 2022 on why they choose to serve our communities in this capacity.

"I value the opportunity to serve on the Community Foundation board because I believe in the organizations we are supporting in our communities. The ability to create sustainability for organizations working to make our communities better while building the base of the Community Foundation is an attractive philanthropic model for me." – Renee Radcliff Sinclair
"I know how blessed I have been in my life, and I also realize that everyone doesn't always get the opportunities that I have had. Generosity is important because it allows me to give back to a community that I love, that has provided me with a life that I am grateful for. I believe that the more generous I can be, the more chances I have to create those same opportunities for someone else." – John Stormans
