FRIENDS OF THE FOUNDATION

Together, We Make More Possible

Friends of the Foundation is a group of local community members—businesses, individuals, families, groups, and others—who champion the Community Foundation's mission and ongoing work. Friends believe that when we invest in our community, we make more possible for our neighbors, our nonprofits, and the places we call home.

As a Friend, your annual support strengthens the Community Foundation’s work across Lewis, Mason, and Thurston counties. Your generosity powers programs and activities that bring people together to learn, collaborate, and take meaningful action, including:

  • Community Conversations that spark connection and shared understanding
  • Nonprofit trainings that equip boards and staff with new tools and insights to strengthen and sustain their important work
  • Annual Grants and Scholarships that expand opportunity and meet local needs

Your support also ensures the Community Foundation can respond quickly when new challenges or opportunities arise. It allows our team to promote local generosity, connect partners, and support collaborative solutions that help our communities thrive.

Friends are recognized on our Virtual Friends Wall and celebrated at Community Foundation events throughout the year—because your leadership and generosity make a meaningful difference.

We imagine a future where everyone in our region has the opportunity to thrive in communities that are sustainable, equitable, and resilient.

Reaching that future requires all of us. Our region is full of people who care deeply and act generously. When we combine our strengths and work together, we unlock new opportunities, strengthen community bonds, and make real progress—especially as our communities navigate rising housing costs, economic pressures, disparate education outcomes, and increasing mental health needs. By coming together in shared purpose, we make more possible for everyone who calls this place home.

By becoming a Friend, you help make more possible today and for the generations who will call this place home tomorrow. Your support strengthens the community you care about—and helps build the future we imagine, together.

About Our Community Foundation

Established in 1989, the Community Foundation of South Puget Sound is the foundation for people who are passionate about our region. We exist to grow a lasting culture of generosity and well-being in the South Puget Sound through connection, leadership, and investment.

As a hub of generosity and community engagement, in partnership with community members and local businesses, we put donated charitable dollars to work to improve lives in Lewis, Mason, and Thurston counties. People with diverse backgrounds and lived experiences within our community work through the foundation to make a lasting difference both today and into the future.

Whether you are interested in the arts, education, the environment, healthy families, or something in between, we assist local people in making more possible for the causes and places they love through the establishment of scholarship and grant-making funds, as well as agency funds for local nonprofits.

Every year, we carry out our Grants and Scholarship Programs and special initiatives that contribute to our charitable mission and current community priorities. Since our inception, the Community Foundation has awarded $33 million—and counting—to local causes and students.
