It’s more vital than ever to have broad community participation and diverse voices at the table to help guide our grantmaking, steward the community funds entrusted to us, and lead our strategic work.
We're pleased to announce that we’re openly seeking community members to serve on our Board of Directors as well as volunteers for our Community Grants committees. These two opportunities are both great ways to inspire local philanthropy and support the Thurston, Mason, and Lewis County communities you love. Please consider whether one of these options may be a good fit for you, nominate yourself or someone else, and help us spread the word to your networks!

The Community Foundation of South Puget Sound inspires philanthropy in support of communities throughout Thurston, Mason, and Lewis Counties. Since our founding in 1989, we have awarded more than $15 million in grants and scholarships. These funds have benefited communities—becoming college degrees, meals, winter clothes, medicine, therapy, shelter, solar panels, forests, farmland, healthy rivers, music, art, and more. OPEN CALL FOR BOARD NOMINATIONS
Nominations are now open for the Community Foundation of South Puget Sound's Board of Directors. With several board members' terms coming to an end this year, we expect to add 6-7 new board members within the next 6 months. We aspire to be an organization that is of, by, and for our communities. We are striving to build a Board of Directors that represents the diversity of our region—this includes, but is not limited to race, ethnicity, gender identity, socioeconomic status, and geography.
Collectively, the Board of Directors has the overall responsibility for governing the Community Foundation. Our Board of Directors holds our organization accountable to the communities we serve and is responsible for setting strategic and policy level guidance for the organization.

OPEN CALL FOR VOLUNTEER COMMUNITY GRANTS EVALUATORS
In addition to board members, we are also seeking volunteer grant evaluators join our Community Grants committees. This is a short-term commitment that lasts from early September through late October. Committee members will work together to review the grant applications that come through our Community Grants program and make funding recommendations to our board.
This is a great opportunity for people from Thurston, Lewis, and Mason Counties to engage with the grantmaking process and hear about the good work our local nonprofits are doing. As a Community Grants committee member, you will have the opportunity to meet others who care about our South Sound communities, learn from them, and put your own unique perspective and leadership skills to work on behalf of our communities. We provide training and support for this opportunity and welcome people of all backgrounds and experiences to apply by filling out a volunteer interest form HERE.
