Position Summary
Community Foundation of South Puget Sound is seeking a temporary Program Officer. This position will manage a nonprofit grantmaking program and support other community foundation programs as needed. This is a part-time, temporary position. The length of the position will be determined based on the length of the project and project funding. This is a temporary project-based position with a minimum duration of 6 months and potential for extension.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Partner with Community Foundation team members and external partners to ensure seamless execution of grant program from initiation of program through check delivery and reporting
- Lead interactions with nonprofits and grantees for this grant program including answering phones, responding to questions, communicating with nonprofits, and communicating information about eligibility and program requirements
- Conduct due diligence on nonprofits including reviewing 990s, confirming 501c3 status, and ensuring charitable registrations are up to date
- Maintain and update and grants management system and records that tracks grantee contact information, grant history, and grant documentation
- Participate in advancing the Community Foundation’s value of diversity, equity, and inclusion within our organization and through our work in the community
- Enter data and support grants database, accounting, and customer relationship management systems
The ideal Program Officer will have the following experience and qualifications:
- 4+ years working in a nonprofit organization, preferably in grantmaking, fundraising, communications, or program management (internships and volunteer experience will be considered, as will similar experience in the public or private sectors)
- Experience managing a nonprofit or government grant program strongly preferred
- General understanding and familiarity with nonprofit sector
- Outstanding interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills
- Excellent customer service skills
- High level of organization; strong attention to detail
- Ability to meet deadlines and handle multiple, competing priorities
- Ability to work in an environment that requires confidentiality for sensitive information
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively
- Fluency with Microsoft Office Suite (especially PowerPoint, Excel, Word, and Outlook)
- Experience with CRM platform(s), grant management platform(s), and website management or the capacity to learn them quickly
This is a part-time temporary position that is not eligible for additional benefits. Hours will be approximately 20-25 hours per week. Hours may include occasional early morning or evening work. We are currently working remotely due to COVID-19 and this position will be mostly remote, with occasional in-person meetings in Olympia, WA.

The majority of the work is performed in a general office setting. The capability of working at a PC and on the phone for extended periods is required.
