Announcing 2025 Capital City Marathon Grantees
Discover how the Capital City Marathon supports local nonprofits and see which organizations received 2025 grant funding

Every May, hundreds of runners take to the streets of Olympia to participate in Capital City Marathon—a beloved annual race fueled by community spirit and a shared love of running. What many don’t know is how this event continues to give back to our community long after the last runner crosses the finish line.
The Capital City Marathon Association (CCMA) is a nonprofit organization that has been providing a quality, local, all-volunteer running event since 1980. Committed to giving back to the community, CCMA established the Capital City Marathon Endowment Fund—a component fund of the Community Foundation of South Puget Sound—in 2014. The fund grows each year with proceeds from the marathon and supports local nonprofit organizations through an annual grant program.
Since 2005, these grants have helped advance nonprofit projects that reflect the marathon’s core values: promoting personal health and fitness, healthy nutrition, and accessibility across Lewis, Mason, and Thurston Counties.
This year, we’re proud to announce $12,250 in grants awarded to nine local nonprofit organizations whose work exemplifies the marathon’s lasting impact. These organizations are helping our communities thrive by expanding access to physical activity and nutritious food, and by supporting youth development and overall well-being.
