Foundation Environmental Initiative Funds Farm to Market Report (July, 2015)

April 22, 2016

The Community Foundation is pleased to announce its second Environmental Initiative. This endeavor is designed to build on the work from the first Initiative, which generated the Farms to Market Assessment in 2013.

Many conversations about local food systems and considerable work resulted from the assessment.

The Foundation will award up to $25,000 for a project(s) that supports a dynamic, strong, regional, agricultural environment that includes our three-county service area: Lewis, Mason, and Thurston counties. Our goal is to strengthen the local food economy as well as the relationships between local food producers and buyers.

“We are interested in supporting development of a robust regional food system so that all community residents have access to a nutritionally adequate diet through a sustainable food system,” says

Norma Schuiteman, Foundation President & CEO. “We are looking for projects that will maximize community self-reliance and advance local economic development.”

An RFP for Environmental Initiative funds is available here.

“We hope to receive proposals that exhibit Foundation core values such as collaboration and connectivity, a regionalapproach, diverse partners and ideas that build on prior work and learning,” Schuiteman adds.

Completed proposals must be received by 12 noon on Friday, August 7 to be considered.
